Welcome to Alameda

Alameda is a very special city that is an island that sits in the San Francisco Bay. Alameda has a rich history clearly seen through the large Victorian homes dating back to the 1890s in the Gold Coast neighborhood. The island further evolved in the 1920s with the Alameda Naval Air Station home of a large West Coast Naval presence. The Navy left Alameda nearly 20 years ago and after a brief period of depression, the island has experienced a new hip awakening.

Alameda is almost entirely flat which makes for great walking to all the new restaurants and shops. Many residents enjoy their commute from Alameda to San Francisco via the water on a ferry.
